Paldor Peak Climbing is one of the most popular climb in the extreme southeast of the Ganesh Himal range. It is the connecting point of the high Tiru and Karpu ridges at the head of the Mailung Khola (river).

The climb is considered moderately difficult and the main route through the glacier is full of crevasses.

When you get to the first place, there are two options to choose from; climb the ridge immediately or use the cracks to scale the 45-degree sloping ridge.

Paldor Peak (5,903 m) can be climbed from the northeast, southeast, west, and southwest ridges. The quickest way to reach Paldor and Ganesh Himal are to drive down to Syabrubesi in the Trishuli Valley.

Our trek begins from Syabrubesi. You cross the Bhote Kosi River, which leads you to the villages of Tangjet and Gatlang which are predominantly Tamang hamlets. From here, we head northwards along the ridge before the river plunges into the forest above the Mailung Khola. The moraine-filled valley just below the Paldor can be reached after a day’s walk.

After you reach the summit, you will find yourself at one of the world’s most beautiful places and can have mesmerizing views of the Ganesh Himal peaks, Langtang Lirung (7227 m) and Manaslu (8156 m).

From here you can also view some of the mountains on the Tibetan side that include Shishapangma (8013 m). You can also see one of the tributaries of the River Trishuli.

Himalayan Trekkers offers a full board package for Paldor Peak climbing. It includes a climbing permit from NMA and all other necessary logistics from arrival to departure from Kathmandu.

Schedule for each day
Days: 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, a representative from Himalayan Trekkers will greet and assist you at your hotel. Depending upon your arrival, you may stroll around the streets of Thamel, meet us in our office, or do your final moment shopping.
Days: Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
After breakfast at the hotel, a tour guide will take you to the historical and cultural places of Kathmandu. Kathmandu city presents a fabulous mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and western influence in the valley. There will be a half-day guided tour to the famous and biggest Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath.
Days: Day 3: Drive to Syabrubesi
oday, we drive from Kathmandu, following the Dhunche initially on the northeast side of the ridge. The drive is an enjoyable one through the serene forests of hemlock, pines, oaks, and rhododendron. After crossing the forests, we will enter a fascinating landscape of terraced fields and isolated small farms. We continue descending as the path snakes around the ridges for about 2 hours through the thick forests, and then eventually we will reach the Tamang village of Syabrubesi.
Days: Day 4: Trek to Gatlang
Today's path leads us into the valley of the Chilime Khola; crossing the river by a suspension bridge to the north bank and following a path upstream to another large suspension bridge. Here we again cross the river and reach the south bank, passing through Gholjong Sango, where the valley now widens. The trail follows a well-engineered water channel and leads eventually to Thangjet, near the confluence of the Chilime and Brindong Khola. The trail climbs steeply through terraced hillsides to Gatling- a Tamang village, passing Mani walls piled with carved stones and lotus flower Mandala. You can visit the Tamang Monastery and Parvatikunda Lake here.
Days: Day 5: Trek to Yuri Kharka
After breakfast, we start our trek and pass through the local village of the main trekking trail that goes through the forest of fir, rhododendron, and juniper. After a walk of about 5 hours, we will reach the Yuri Kharka.
Days: Day 6: Trek to Somdang via Khurpudanda Pass
We start our climb again through the forests, zigzagging to Khurpu Danda at 3,739 m. From the Khurpa Danda, our route follows a path north along the crest at first and then traversing the steep hillside on the west flank. All along the way, there are thousands of small garnets and other minerals that you can find. Approaching the head of the valley the path then gets steep, climbing on the right side of the stream. Merrily flowing waterfalls enter from the right and we get a glimpse of Somdang village.
Days: Day 7: Trek to Jasta Khani
From Somdang we will be walking towards the beautiful region of Jasta Khani enjoying the scenic beauty spread all over the place. The trekking trail will offer us a great view of the surrounding high hills and some of the most beautiful forests.
Days: Day 8: Trek to Paldor Base Camp
Our trek to Paldor Base Camp continues after breakfast. The path, in some places, is quite rocky as we climb between outcrops and then traverse towards the northeast to a small valley bounded by moraines below the glaciers of the Paldor Peak. We make our Base Camp here, below the confluence of the Paldor West and Paldor East glaciers just north of a fine rock pinnacle.
Days: Day 9: Acclimatization at Base Camp
Today is the rest day as time is needed for acclimatization and for sorting out the equipment which we will be taking to our high camp. The further strategy will also be discussed and planned out. You will also get time to explore the area around the base camp.
Days: Day 10: Climb to High Camp
Today begins the steep and stony walk scrambling up across the moraine slopes and further through the boulder fields to the glacier and eventually to the wonderful campsite. En route to the glacier is a small and inconspicuous lake to the south of the peak called Fang. High Camp will be placed just east of the Fang on the Paldor East Glacier. The rest of the day is spent sorting out the climbing gear for an early start to the summit of the Paldor. At night, one can even see the glow of the lights in Kathmandu even though it is at a faraway distance.
Days: Day 11: Summit Paldor Peak and Return to Base Camp
From the High Camp, we will follow the Paldor Glacier in the east. Walking through the steep snow slope, loose rock pinnacles, and hard snow, we finally reach the peak. The summit offers stunning views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Shishapangma, and the brown hills of Tibet. After spending about half an hour on the summit, we turn back and continue to climb down to the Base Camp.
Days: Day 12: Contingency
If the weather is favorable and our physical condition permits us to walk then we will walk down or in case if there is bad weather then we need to take a spare day and on this day we will walk around the surrounding area and capture the memorable picturesque view.
Days: Day 13: Trek to Somdang
From the base camp of the Paldor peak, we will trek towards Somdang taking the same way back. The trail gradually descends through the main trail.
Days: Day 14: Trek to Narchet Kharka

Days: Day 17: Trek to Darkha
We will make our journey straight towards Darkha which will take us about 6 to 7 hours.
