In his very first sermon Lord Buddha put forth the Middle Way, the Four Noble Truths, and the Eightfold Path - the message spread rapidly, penetrating caste and class barriers; today Buddhism is a way of life in large parts of the world, its message of peace and tolerance speaks to us all.Buddha preached that the way to salvation is not dependent on God but on understanding the way things really are for all living beings subject to desire.


We take you on a journey to places associated with important events in Buddha's life. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini, became Buddha, the Enlightened One, at Bodhgaya, gave his first sermon at Sarnath, lived the greater part of his monastic life in Sravasti, and attained Nirvana at Kushinagar. We also take in Lucknow, "City of Nawabs" known for its gracious living, and the fabled Taj Mahal in Agra.

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu. In the afternoon, you will visit Boudhanath Stupa. This ancient monument, with its massive whitewashed dome and piercing eyes, is an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for local Nepalese and Tibetan Buddhists alike.
Day 2: Start your journey at Boudha Stupa, the largest and an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists. After lunch, discover Patan, famed for its architecture and centuries old Buddhist and Hindu temples. Then visit Swayambhu.
Day 3: Fly to Bhairawa and drive to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha Shakyamuni. Visit the Sacred Garden holding a commemorative pillar erected by Mauryan Emperor, Ashoka in 3rd century BC.
Day 4: Tour the international monasteries of Lumbini Monastic Zone. Discover the ancient kingdom of Kapilvastu where the Buddha grew up as a prince and other important archaeological sites. Drive to Kushinagar.
Day 5: Visit the site of parinirvana or great liberation in Kushinagar. En route to Patna visit Vaishali - the site of last sermon.
Day 6: En route to Bodhgaya visit the Vulture Peak of Rajgir where Buddha taught the Transcendent Perfection of Widsom. Continue to Nalanda a centre of learning and Buddhist studies.
Day 7: Immerse in the sacred serenity of the Maha Bodhi Temple Complex which holds the spot of Buddha enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Monks and pligrims find inspiration at the nearby Niranjana River where Buddha practiced severe asceticism.
Day 8: Discover Varanasi and Sarnath. Visit Varanasi in the morning and Sarnath in the afternoon which is the site of Buddha first public disourse and now home to many magnificent stupas and monasteries.
Day 9: Enjoy a peaceful early morning boat ride on the Ganges. Take a midday flight to Kathmandu.
Day 10: Drive to Namo Buddha or Takmo Lujin where according to Jatakas and several sutras Mahasattva one of Buddha former reincarnations sacrificed his own life to save the lives of a hungry tigress and her cubs.
Day 11: Free day in Kathmandu.
Day 12: International departure to your home country.
