Giving Back to Our Communities

giving back

At Nepal New Generation Trek & Adventure, we believe tourism should create meaningful and lasting benefits for the people and communities of the Himalayan region. As a locally operated company, we are committed to ensuring that tourism income reaches the remote communities that need it most.

Supporting Remote Village Employment

One of our important commitments is to hire local guides and porters from remote villages where tourism opportunities are limited or have not yet developed.

Rather than bringing all our staff from major tourist areas, whenever possible we work with people from the villages and mountain communities along our trekking routes.

When travelers choose to trek with us, their journey creates employment and income for local guides, porters, cooks, drivers, homestays, lodges, and other community members.

This means that tourism income goes directly to local families and communities.

Supporting Children's Education

We believe that education is one of the most valuable ways to create a better future for remote Himalayan communities.

When our local guides and porters earn income through tourism, they can use that income to support their families and send their children to school.

We also provide direct support whenever possible, including:

  • School supplies and educational materials
  • Clothing and warm T-shirts
  • Support for school-going children
  • Assistance to families in remote villages
  • Contributions toward children's education
  • Community-based support initiatives

Our goal is to help create opportunities for children who may otherwise have limited access to educational resources.

Tourism That Reaches Remote Villages

Many beautiful Himalayan villages are located far from the main tourist centers. These communities may have fewer employment opportunities and limited access to economic resources.

We believe that responsible tourism can help change this.

By employing people from less-touristed villages as guides, porters, cooks, and support staff, we help bring tourism income directly into these communities.

If tourists travel to these areas, the benefits of tourism should reach the people who live there.

Supporting Local Guides and Porters

Our guides and porters are at the heart of every Himalayan journey.

We respect their knowledge, experience, hard work, and connection to the mountains. We aim to provide fair employment opportunities and support safe and respectful working conditions.

Whenever possible, we prioritize local people from the trekking regions, especially communities where tourism has not yet created many employment opportunities.

Their work helps support their families, children's education, and the wider village economy.

Responsible Tourism

We encourage every traveler to respect the people, culture, traditions, environment, wildlife, and natural resources of the Himalayas.

We promote responsible tourism by:

  • Employing people from local and remote villages
  • Supporting local businesses and family-run services
  • Creating employment opportunities for local guides and porters
  • Helping local families benefit directly from tourism
  • Supporting children's education
  • Respecting local culture and traditions
  • Reducing unnecessary waste
  • Protecting the natural environment
  • Encouraging travelers to contribute positively to local communities

Supporting Local Families and Children
At Nepal New Generation Trek & Adventure, we believe that the true value of tourism is not only measured by the places our travelers visit, but also by the positive difference their journeys can make in the lives of local people. As a locally operated Himalayan trekking and adventure company, we have a strong connection with mountain communities. We understand that many people living in remote villages have limited employment opportunities, particularly in areas that receive few international visitors. For this reason, whenever possible, we choose to employ local guides, porters, cooks, and support staff from remote and less-touristed villages. This gives local people an opportunity to earn a livelihood through tourism while sharing their knowledge, culture, traditions, and experience of the Himalayas with our travelers. The income generated through tourism can have a much wider impact. A porter or guide who earns through a trekking journey can use that income to support their family, improve their home, pay for healthcare, and most importantly, provide education for their children. We believe that supporting children's education is an investment in the future of Himalayan communities. We therefore encourage tourism that creates opportunities not only for today's generation but also for the next generation. In addition to creating employment, Nepal New Generation Trek & Adventure supports local communities through practical contributions whenever possible. These may include providing clothing and T-shirts, school materials, educational assistance, and other forms of support to children and families in remote villages. Tourism That Gives Back We believe that tourism should be a partnership between travelers and local communities. Visitors come to experience the beauty of the Himalayas, while local people provide their knowledge, hospitality, skills, and services. Our responsibility is to make sure that the benefits of this relationship are shared as widely as possible. By choosing local guides and porters from villages where tourism is still limited, we help ensure that tourism money reaches communities beyond the main tourist centers. Even a single trekking journey can make a difference. It can provide work for a local porter, income for a family, business for a village lodge, and educational support for a child. Our Long-Term Commitment Giving back is not a one-time activity for us. It is part of our long-term commitment to responsible and community-based tourism. We want every journey operated by Nepal New Generation Trek & Adventure to contribute positively to the people and places that make the Himalayan experience possible. When you travel with us, you do more than explore the Himalayas—you help create employment, support local families, encourage children's education, and contribute to the future of remote mountain communities. Travel With a Purpose Explore the Himalayas. Support Local People. Create Employment. Help Educate Children. Protect Our Communities.
